Benbow ~ Benbow’s who were transferred to other Naval Battalions.
Clyde Z/? ~ Benbow?
~ Information not confirmed and requires further investigation.
The reason for the list of names
was to identify sailors who had been KIA/DOW and had served in the Benbow
Battalion 1914/1915.
The CWGC only records what
Battalion the sailor was in the time of death, and does not record the
sacrifice the late Benbow sailors made from 1915 to1918, while serving in other
Naval Battalions. (Full list of names of 1st/ Old Benbows who were Interned or made Prisoners of War can be found in "The 1914 Star To The Royal Navy & Royal Marines" by WH Fever & JW Wilson published by The Royal Naval & Military Press)
I would be grateful to receive any
new information (or errors in
the above) about sailors who served in the
Benbow Battalion 1914 to 1915.
Thanks to Jack Marshall (Jack
Clegg) who has helped me over the past year with information not available at
the “National Archives” Kew.
